TypeAway is a free online typing game built around world travel. Every word you type is a country. Type it correctly and your plane takes off across a real world map toward that destination; make a typo and you hit turbulence and lose hull. Fly the whole itinerary before your hull runs out and you land with a full flight report — words per minute, accuracy, best combo and total time. There is nothing to download and no account to create.

It also works as a type racer: at Gate 2 you race up to three other travellers along the same route in real time, watching everyone's plane advance as they type. Whether you are practising your typing speed or just fancy travelling around the world one country at a time, every flight ends with the numbers to prove how you did.

How to play

1. Check in at the kiosk and pick where you want to fly.
2. Review the route on the map, then print your boarding pass.
3. Choose Gate 1 to fly solo, or Gate 2 to race up to three other travellers.
4. Type each country name exactly as it appears. Long hops need the name typed two or three times.
5. Watch your hull — every typo costs one, and at zero your flight crashes.
